Magento is an open-source eCommerce platform, built specifically for online shops. Due to its specific eCommerce functionality, Magento is great for websites with very few information pages, which do not need to be updated regularly.

If websites need content updates frequently, a more specific Content Management System, with eCommerce functionality would be better suited. WordPress blogs can be added to Magento stores with the use of a module to link WordPress and Magento.

Magento is capable of managing multiple-thousands of products, which other eCommerce platforms are incapable of coping with.

I use Magento for larger scale eCommerce websites, where the content pages do not need to be edited that often.
